Be sure to bring your snowshoes and be ready to trek in the snow. We will meet at the Holland Pond Fishing Access at 10:00 am and walk to the trail head (partly plowed, partly not.) We will then make our way through the Bill Sladky Wildlife Refuge to Round Pond.....where we will check out the new lean-to! 29 Annual Spring NEK GMC Activity & Meeting Annual Spring NEK GMC Activity & Meeting March 29, 2026 9:00 am - 2:00 pm Join us in East Burke, VT for an early Spring activity at Dashney Nordic Center at 9AM, where you can choose to ski or snowshoe. After, if you choose (around 11AM), purchase lunch at Cafe Lotti (pre-order suggested), and attend our annual Spring Meeting (at noon), where we will be electing members to our executive committee. Nominations are being accepted for Director, President, Secretary, and Treasurer at gmcnek@gmail.com. We will be reviewing our winter and upcoming Spring events. Please be advised:

The trail closure on Monadnock Mountain remains in effect. There's still a "NO TRESPASSING" sign on the gate at the gravel pit, although it is easily overlooked when the gate is open. The continued presence of an old trailhead parking sign at this location only adds to the confusion over its status, but a person working at the gravel pit confirmed to me that this trail is still closed.

As some of you may be aware, there is an alternative route that avoids the gravel pit, but I wouldn't recommend using it at this time. It follows a private right of way that encroaches on a nearby dwelling. While this property isn't posted, its owner has expressed no interest in encouraging public access to their land. Please respect this choice and find another mountain to hike for now. Thank you!
