Morse, founder and Program Director of Keeping Track, a regional
non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring community participation
in the stewardship of wildlife habitat, will narrate a comprehensive
slide and display presentation on a variety of mammals native
to the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. This unusual and unique
program features Susan's renowned photography, wildlife wisdom
and enormous collection of track molds, animal skins, skulls
and other items from the field.
Seventeen tables of exhibits will be open to browsing prior
to the talk. The event will serve as an introduction to conservation
biology and habitat monitoring for local citizens and a means
of recruiting community members into a local monitoring program.
Morse's unique and powerful presentation style has been popular
with audiences from all walks of life, both young and old.
The evening's presentation is a prelude to a hands-on outdoor
workshop that will be held on January 20 in Victory Bog.
Susan and Keeping Track are dedicated to wildlife habitat
protection through field research, conservation education
and planning. Keeping Track teaches volunteer citizens to
observe, interpret and record evidence of wildlife in their
communities. In that way they become involved in the long-term
stewardship of critical wildlife habitat. Anyone interested
in learning more about Keeping Track or simply enjoying an
entertaining evening with an amazing naturalist is welcome
to attend this rare wildlife event.
The event is being sponsored by the Northeast Kingdom of
the Green Mountain Club, the newest addition to the organization's
fourteen sections throughout Vermont, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
The group will offer snacks and refreshments, conduct a gift
certificate raffle and introduce the section's unique mission
in the Northeast Kingdom. Admission is $5 for GMC members
and $7 for non-members. Children twelve and under are free.
