26,000 acres in the Nulhegan Basin has now been conveyed to the US Fish and Wildlife Service as part of the federal Silvio O. Conte National Wildlife Refuge. This land includes Vermonts largest deer wintering areas, important other wildlife habitat, natural areas and recreational areas...

The Vermont Agency of Natural Resources (ANR) will acquire 22,000 acres of land in the Nulhegan and Pauls Stream watersheds... This property contains numerous lakes, wetlands and natural areas, and is encumbered by a conservation easement held by The Nature Conservancy of Vermont.

TCF has resold approximately 84,000 acres of land to a group of investors headed by Wil Merck of Hamilton, Massachusetts and Peacham, Vermont. The property is subject to permanent working forest and public access easements to ensure that forest products will be harvested in a sustainable manner and that the public will continue to enjoy access to the land for hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and other traditional recreational pursuits. The working forest easement is held by the Vermont Land Trust...

Public recreational use of the lands include hunting, fishing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, boating, biking, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. Traditional public access to these lands will continue.
